Made for the Middle by Micahn CarterSample
Reminders have become my best friend. With so many things to get done in the day, I can easily forget to do all kinds of things. Take out the trash, make it to my dentist appointment, and sometimes even pick up the kids. Yeah, I’m that dad! Good thing there are tons of tools and systems set in place to recall our memory to help us not forget.
Memory is vital, necessary, and essential. It helps you not touch the red hot stove because you remember the pain it caused when you didn’t listen. It enables you to remember the reason why you got married when you don't feel like it in the moment. It also helps you remember to take out the trash, so you don't get yelled at by your wife who is slowly forgetting why she married you. lol
The only problem with memory is that when you die it dies. There are thousands of secret recipes we will never eat, ideas that never came to fruition, and traditions that never got passed down. Hence why we need more than memories, we need memorials.
Memorials are reminders. They trigger huge moments that should never be forgotten, and God, being the genius that He is, gave us a few to keep being Made for the Middle at the forefront of our minds.
At the beginning of this devotional, we talked about the priest who stood in the middle until everyone crossed over, but the story really doesn’t end there. Before they stepped out of the middle of the river literally, God told Joshua to tell them to grab 12 stones from the exact place they stood and to set them up as a memorial to remind them to never step out of the middle figuratively.
Today is the last day of this devotional. Congratulations, you made it to the end! The truth is this is just the beginning. Guess what God calls us... living stones. You guessed it. People who are Made for the Middle, our lives are living memorials for people to see and remember that God is doing everything in His power to help everyone make it across to the promised land AKA Heaven.
Something to think about: Just because we are done doesn’t mean you are. Do everything you can to get as many people to join you... In The Middle.

About this Plan
With so many hot-button issues causing divisiveness in our culture, many Christians are struggling to live out their faith. There is a way, says Micahn Carter. Jesus modeled it perfectly: He stood strong in the middle of tension and loved people outside of His comfort zone.
