Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of HopeSample
April 9
Introduction
Today’s reading includes several of Jesus’s teachings dealing with sin, forgiveness, faith, and service. The concluding story is one of a foreigner who returns to give thanks to Jesus for being healed.
Today’s Scripture: Luke 17:19 (GNT)
And Jesus said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has made you well.”
Today’s Reading
Luke 17:1-19
Reflect
Verses 1-10 include sayings of Jesus that are addressed to the disciples. What is your understanding of Jesus’s teaching on forgiveness (verses 3, 4)? Why do the disciples ask Jesus to make their faith greater (verse 5)? Have you ever felt the need to pray for greater faith? What did Jesus say to the Samaritan when he returned to thank him (verse 19)? Does faith play a role with regard to healing?
Pray
Lord Jesus, I turn to you in faith, asking that I grow in knowledge of you. Teach me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. You are my source of true strength, and I thank and praise you for your everlasting love. Amen.
