Face To Face With Jesus: A 7-Day DevotionalSample

“The best advice I can give you: Look unto Jesus, beholding his beauty in the written Word.”
—John Newton
I encourage you to think of Jesus as your mentor and best friend, as well as Savior and Lord. Your relationship with Jesus grows as you spend time with him—as you talk and listen to him.
Occasionally when I’m praying, I pull out a chair for Jesus and envision him sitting there. I talk to him. I’m not pretending Jesus is with me when I pray; I believe his promise that he’s really with me and I act in keeping with it.
We can’t spend time with many of the world’s famous people, but I have a hunch we’d be disappointed if we could.
We can, however, spend time with Jesus daily—hour by hour. To “pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) is not an impossible chore but an ongoing delight.
