Love God Greatly: To Do Justice, To Love Kindness, To Walk HumblySample
In verse 1, Micah looks ahead in time and makes a prophecy of the siege of Jerusalem. He calls Jerusalem “daughter of troops” because he sees the multitude of armies and soldiers who will attack the Holy City. God would use these multitudes of powerful Babylonian troops to fulfill His judgment upon the people of Judah.
And then Micah turns his eyes to the Messiah, Jesus, who would be sent as a tender child to the little town of Bethlehem and become the ruler of Israel (once more, we have prophecies referred to different times – the first coming of Jesus as a child and His second coming as King at the end of times).
When Jesus returns in His second coming, He will shepherd and care for His flock and will make His people dwell securely. Today, He also cares for us as our Good Shepherd. He gives peace and joy to all who come to Him. He has left for us “his precious and very great promises” (2 Peter 1:4) to encourage our hearts. We have a Holy God who can’t stand sin, but we also have a loving Good Shepherd who takes care of every single need.
Oh Lord, Your Word is like fresh water to my heart. I praise You because You have not left me alone, but You have made me part of Your family and You take care of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
We are surrounded by injustice and pain. We see it not only in our world but also in our own lives and it can be disheartening and overwhelming. But we are not without hope. This is what Micah is all about. He is not afraid to get in our face about some hard topics like sin and judgement.
