The title, ‘God my rescue’ is one that carries a lot of personal significance for me. There have been so many times in my life that I can look back and say that God truly was my rescue. I could never deny His provision in my life, both in the natural and the spiritual. This song really is a cry of dependence on God.

I love the message of this song because it expresses what Jesus accomplished through the cross and brings it down to such a personal level. The power of the cross is a phenomenal truth that actually reaches beyond a single event in history. He is a present Savior, walking us through the individual seasons and challenges that we face.

My favorite part of ‘God My Rescue’ is the bridge. The bridge really is a declaration of the resilience of His grace toward us. It expresses a contrast between two worlds. Our weakness collides with His overwhelming strength. Often there are struggles along the journey and it’s His grace that carries us through.

Psalms 13:5 in the Message says, “I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms – I’m celebrating your rescue. I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.” Our prayer is that for whatever season you find yourself in, God would meet you in your time of need. Let His presence be what sustains you and keeps you in love with Him!
