DAY 9 OF 10

Impossible

Building 429

More than a few times, I’ve called a situation impossible. How about you? Perhaps it’s something seemingly insignificant like, “it is impossible to make it in time with this traffic jam,” or maybe it’s something a little more serious like, “It’s going to be impossible for us to have enough money to pay rent this month.”

Whether the situation is big or small, we tend to look at things through our human point of view. Sometimes the way we see a situation, is not the way God sees a situation.

In Matthew 19:16-26, Jesus leaves his disciples a little bit confused with this analogy about a camel going through the eye of a needle, and maybe you’re a bit confused too. The thing is, there’s no way a large camel could ever fit through the eye of a tiny little needle, thus making it an impossible situation. But that’s where Jesus steps in and says otherwise.

See with human effort, the task would be impossible. And to pick up on the rich young man in the story, for him to want to give up everything he owns to follow Jesus, would be impossible on his own strength, but with the strength of God, this is possible! I fear that in our daily lives, we sometimes rely far too much on our own ability and strength to get us through tough situations. Our will-power, hard work, or money may get us through temporarily, but it is nothing compared to the power of God available on a daily basis.

God is for you in your situation, and even the most impossible circumstances can be made possible, with Him. Trust Him, and give Him your everything.
