Upsidedown Kingdom - Lessons from the Sermon on the Mount

DAY 40 OF 49

The apostle Paul takes it up a notch in this passage from Romans. We've been reading about how we are called not to judge in the kingdom of God. But here, we learn that it's not enough to simply not judge someone. We are asked to bless those who persecute us, be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who mourn. And not just with our friends. God is telling us here that in His right side up kingdom of heaven, we feed our enemies if they are hungry and give them a drink if they are thirsty. Can you even imagine the kind of world we would live in if we all acted this way? Jesus can, which is why He asked us to join Him in establishing this new way to be human.

As you read the following scripture, take a few moments to meditate on the word of God, then respond to the following questions:

  1. What has God revealed to you about His kingdom?
  2. What has God revealed to you about the King?
  3. What has God revealed to you about being a citizen of the new kingdom?
  4. Now, ask the Holy Spirit to provide you opportunities to live into God's kingdom today!

About this Plan

Upsidedown Kingdom - Lessons from the Sermon on the Mount

In the world that we live in, things are not as they should be. One might even say they are upside down. However, the good news is that Jesus came to turn this world right side up. What if our eyes were opened to the REALITY that the kingdom of heaven is in fact here?
