You Are Saved for a Purpose 

The power of vision enables you to see a potential masterpiece in what others overlook or consider worthless. Many of the people God used in Scripture looked like losers before they looked like winners. At Calvary, we lost the right to take our talents, opportunities, and experiences and run off in any direction we please. And it’s a good thing—what could be more fulfilling than God’s purpose for our lives?

The issue of “ownership” is a key point in understanding biblical stewardship. We tend to think our time, abilities, and stuff are our own. However, they are not. Instead, we are stewards of God’s wonderful gifts to us! A good steward is future-minded, disciplined, and he takes risks for the benefit of his boss. Don’t get weary or sidetracked. Keep your eyes on the prize. Imagine Jesus Christ saying to you, “Well done!” That’s what you want to hear!

When God has your heart’s deepest affection, you’ll give gladly, not grudgingly. Tithing, for instance, should be an act of worship. Giving of your finances is an act of profound worship. Indeed, for many of us, money is the greatest test of all! We also give of our time. God determines the number of your days, but you determine how they are spent. Today, invest your most valuable resource—your time—into the life God has given you. Spend each minute purposefully, and tackle each obstacle, knowing that, with God’s help, you can overcome it. Maintain a strong faith, and see everything as an opportunity to honor the Lord.
