Jesus’ family criticizes Him. Pharisees attribute His power to Satan and request a sign. He emphasizes ‘the sign of Jonah’.
Note Matthew 12:40: Jesus emphasizes that He will be entombed for three nights as well as three days. He repeats this prediction in Matthew 16:4. Therefore He must have been placed in the tomb on Thursday evening (see Appendix L: The Timing of the Crucifixion).
