Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & MercySample
August 19
Introduction
Today’s reading includes two hymns – the songs of Moses and his sister Miriam – that celebrate God saving the Israelites by defeating the Egyptian king and his army. After passing through the waters of the Red Sea, Moses leads the people into the desert. The people complain because they have gone without water for three days. They arrive at Marah, and the LORD instructs Moses on how to make the bitter water fit to drink.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 15:21a
Miriam sang for them: “Sing to the LORD, because he has won a glorious victory.”
Today’s Reading
Exodus 15:1-27
Reflect
How is the LORD described in verses 1-3? The Israelites danced and sang after God delivered them from the Egyptians. How will you praise God today?
Pray
I sing to you, Lord, because you are victorious. You are my God and my strong defender. I praise you for your mighty acts and will sing about your greatness. Amen.
