Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & MercySample
August 7
Introduction
Because of the Egyptian king’s stubbornness in refusing to let the Israelites go, the LORD instructs Moses to strike the Nile river with his stick which causes the river to turn into blood. Likewise, Aaron is instructed to hold his stick over all the rivers, canals, and pools in Egypt.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 7:20b
In the presence of the king and his officers, Aaron raised his stick and struck the surface of the river, and all the water in it was turned into blood.
Today’s Reading
Exodus 7:14-25
Reflect
The disaster described in today’s reading was especially horrible because it affected the river which the Egyptians saw as the source of life. What did the Egyptians do in order to obtain drinking water? Are there places in the world today where there is a lack of clean drinking water?
Pray
Gracious God, you are the source of life, and I thirst for your life-giving Word. Nourish me today as I read and meditate on your Holy Scriptures. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Parts of the world in need of wells to obtain fresh drinking water
Tomorrow’s Reading
Exodus 8:1-19: Two more disasters strike Egypt.
