Love God Greatly - Psalm 119Sample

Love God Greatly - Psalm 119

DAY 54 OF 54

Reflection: Believers in Christ have been set apart to reflect God through our actions, our behavior, our attitudes. God has not left us alone as orphans to figure things out on our own. Believers have the ultimate love letter from God, the Holy Bible, which explains in detail how to live for Him. Psalm 138:2 says that God exalts His Word even above His own Name. That’s a sobering thought, isn’t it? Our God of the universe, Whose Name is above all Names, places the importance and significance of His Word even higher than that. It is not enough for us to say God is awesome and mighty. We prove He is awesome and mighty by living out His Word. Because when we live out the Word, we show our family, our friends, even our enemies, the power of God and the Holy Spirit within us. When we live out the Word, we show the people around us that through Christ, they can too. When we live out the Word, we represent every good thing that we call God. Believers connect, unite, and align ourselves most fully and vividly with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit when we are reading, studying, and living out God’s Word. What is your attitude about studying the Word of God? Do you see it as a burden or a chore? Do you see the Word of God as a condemning list of commands, or as your personal love letter full of hope and joy? Do you recognize that God’s Word connects you intimately to the One who divinely inspired it? Father God, I thank You that You bend Your ear down to hear and speak to us. You bend down to even our lowest and most hidden places, where obedience to Your Word seems impossible. You bend down and align with the Holy Spirit within me and whisper crisply and loudly, “You have the power that raised Christ from the dead alive within You. You have the power to obey. You aren’t alone. You don’t have to do this alone. Pick up My Book. See in writing how much I love You. Forget what You have been told about who you aren’t, what you’ll never be, and what you can’t do. Forget all of that. Read my Word and remember You are loved.” Thank You, Father for not leaving me abandoned. Thank You, Father for Your love letter to me. Give me the hunger and thirst for Your Word that moves me to read it, study it, but most importantly…to obey it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly - Psalm 119

Woven throughout this longest chapter of the Bible are beautiful character qualities of Scripture, reminding us that God’s Word is sufficient, truthful, pure, authoritative, and unchanging. But when we look to God himself – we see how his character is reflected in this chapter as well. This Bible study gives us a glimpse into the beauty, importance, and usefulness of Scripture, prompting us to walk away more in love with God and his Word, more aware of our sin, and more in awe of our great Savior and his sacrifice on our behalf.
