You Are No AccidentSample
You, Not Your Brother
Not me Lord, call someone else! That was Moses' response when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
God does call His people from time to time, to tasks small and big, according to His divine purposes. Amazing and all-sufficient though our God be, God in His graciousness chooses to use us, weak and sinful though we are, to accomplish His kingdom purposes.
Moses is one of the many that God called over the centuries. The task that God called Moses to, was huge and staggering. But the fact is, God when He called, He also provided all that Moses needed for the task at hand. Also, when Moses had questions, and understandably so, God talks him through them.
In that conversation between the Lord and Moses, at that burning bush, God establishes some guidelines of the how's and why's of being called of God for a task. Three very clear principles are being established here. When God calls:
Your Qualification for the task at hand is not what you can do or not, or what your many degrees are, etc. Your qualification is in the fact of Who is calling! The fact is that it is the Lord God Almighty, the Lord of the entire universe, the God who has made every cell in your body, the only One who knows the end from the beginning, it is He who is calling you!
Your Confidence and assurance is the fact that the One who calls you will never send you where He does not come with you. In Exodus 3:12, the Lord said to Moses, I will surely be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that I have sent you. What assurance and confidence for a child of God! What more can you ask for? Romans 8:31 says, If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Your Direction: Moses seemed to have an unending tirade of questions that came tumbling one over the other. The Lord does not get impatient or scold Moses, instead, He patiently works through each one. In Exodus 4:12, The Lord promises to be Moses' guide and teacher, guiding him every step of the way. Isaiah 30:21 says, and your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.
Just as the Lord called Moses, the Lord continues to call His children today. It is indeed our privilege to be used of God, and NOT the other way around. For the Bible says, if we don't praise Him, the stones will cry out (Luke 19:40).
The fact, however, is also that, God called Moses not Aaron to the task of leading the Israelites out of Egypt. God has unique plans and purposes for each of His children. God is calling you, not your brother or sister or spouse or friend or anyone else. And no one can do that which you are called to do, in His kingdom. Each of us is unique and have our own part to play.
Would you prayerfully say, ‘Yes Lord' to whatever He might be calling you to do today?
Heavenly Father, for the many excuses and fears that have kept me from answering Your call, I am sorry. Today I submit myself at Your feet and humbly say, Yes Lord, to what You are calling me to do, believing that You will lead and guide me every step of the way.
About this Plan
We have all at some point, asked the question – what is the purpose of my existence? At other times we have also run from what we know we are called to do. This seven-day reading plan reminds us that God has created each one of us and that not one of us is an accident. It also encourages to seek Him and live out His will each day.
