THE POWER OF PRAYERSample

THE POWER OF PRAYER

DAY 5 OF 5

THE LORD SENT IT

Years ago an old woman did not have money to buy food. She prayed, "Good Lord, please give me beef and a sack of cornmeal." Many times she prayed the same prayer out loud. A wicked villager in the city decided to play trick on the old woman. He dropped beef and a sack of cornmeal through the chimney, which landed right in front of the old woman while she was praying on her knees.

Jumping, the woman exclaimed, "Oh my God! You have answered my prayer.” Then she went around the city and told everyone about the good news. This really was an outrageous thing for the man who dropped food through the chimney earlier. So he mocked her in public and said that it was not God who answered her prayers, but it was him who answered her prayers.

The old woman replied, "Well, maybe the wicked one delivered it, but God sent it!"

God answers prayers in many ways.

Devotion

The answer to prayer is often beyond our reach. God has many ways to answer our prayers and requests. When we pray, do we let God decide how He will answer our prayers? Let us believe in God's power and the way He answers each one of our prayers.

Prayer pleases God, softens His heart, opens His hands: God never rejects a single praying soul. (Thomas Watson)

About this Plan

THE POWER OF PRAYER

Prayer is the breath of life of every believer and a way by which we communicate with God. Prayer also shows that we need God at all times in our lives. When we have a strong prayer life, our lives will be guided by the Lord. Let us have a life of prayer and trust in the power of God who can answer every prayer.
