Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Peace And JusticeSample

October 20
Introduction
Moses reminds the people that they belong to the LORD. He tells them that the LORD will drive out the seven nations that are in the land the Israelites are to occupy. He reminds them of the LORD’s love and exhorts them to obey God’s laws.
Today’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:6a
[Moses said:] “You belong to the LORD your God.”
Today’s Reading
Deuteronomy 7:1-11
Reflect
When the Israelites were preparing to occupy Canaan, they were told to defeat the people who occupied the land. Total destruction was intended in order to remove temptations that would cause the people to turn their backs on the LORD. Are there temptations today that cause people to turn away from God?
Pray
Sovereign God, I know that I belong to you. May I never turn away from you. When temptations come my way, give me the strength and will to remain loyal to you, trusting in your constant love and care. Amen.
Prayer Concern
The ability to avoid temptation
Tomorrow’s Reading
Deuteronomy 7:12-26: Moses outlines the blessings of obedience to the LORD.
