While You WaitSample
While Elijah was hiding in Kerith Ravine, God ordered ravens to bring him bread and meat in the morning. And guess what Elijah’s evening meal was? Bread and meat delivered by ravens. He washed it down with water from the brook.
Day in and day out. The same place. The same routine. The same food. Maybe even the same ravens.
But in the midst of this predictable schedule and menu plan, Elijah made some refreshing discoveries. He discovered that God’s mercies are new every morning. He discovered the marvelous provision of a God who cared about the details of his life. He discovered that God was holding him in the palm of His hand.
God trained ravens to be waiters for Elijah. In a time of severe drought, the brook supplied enough water for Elijah. Even though, King Ahab had sent search parties to kill him, Elijah remained safe in the ravine. How mind-boggling is the goodness of the Lord even when questions are still dancing in the air.
While you and I wait for our breakthroughs, do we recognize that God who provides for our daily needs? Who or what are the ravens He has placed in our lives today? Do we dismiss His provision and His care as coincidence or happenstance?
Are we worshiping that God with joyful thanksgiving for the here and the now?

About this Plan
While we anxiously linger in life’s waiting rooms, we tend to think to ourselves, “This is not what I signed up for.” Our dreams seem to be stuck in a hopeless rut. We long for breakthroughs. In this Bible Plan, we’ll ask: “What is the purpose of our waiting?” We’ll walk in the prophet Elijah’s shoes to discover what God can do in us and through us while we wait.
