Pursuit
As a runner, I’m guessing one of the things you enjoy most is your time alone. I am so easily distracted by all the noise of technology and daily life, but my runs are noise free. It’s my time to disconnect. No phones, no people, no distractions. But something I’ve discovered is that it can be so much sweeter than that. If you ask Him, God will reveal so much to you in those quiet times.
There are so many things I have learned as I have let God speak to me during runs. The first is pursuit.
Have you ever thought about how God pursues you? What makes your heart light up? What gives you joy? What is something that when you see it, you can’t help but smile? God pursues me through several things, but when it comes to running, it’s sunrises and animals. I am constantly in awe of His beauty, creativity, and detail. It’s amazing when you figure it out, how often you’ll see Him pursuing you. From squirrels, rabbits, and ducks, to all kinds of birds that fly right in front of my face when I run, I can’t help but smile and thank God for sending them. I wouldn’t be surprised if God was trying to see how many times He could make me smile that day! He is a loving Father who showers gifts on us, but we have to have the eyes to see them. He wants to show us He’s right there with us, and as I see these things that make my heart so happy, I know God is watching and running right beside me.
Ask Him to show you today how He pursues you and be on the lookout! He wants to see you smile!
