God’s Miracle in our Children

Luke 2:40, 51-52
“And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him…Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

The development and growth of children who love and follow God’s ways is an amazing gift. Parents, who are privileged to be a part of their children’s lives, watch and participate in God’s grace and work in their children. God spoke and gave promises to Mary and Joseph about their child. He also spoke through their relatives Zechariah and Elizabeth, as well as through Simeon and Anna. The prophetic words God gives us for our children are to encourage us that we are cooperating with God’s development plan for our children. It is God who gives our children wisdom, stature and favor. It is God who gives the grace they need. Our responsibility is to train our children to respond to God’s guidance and promptings as he molds and shapes their lives. It is another miracle of creation in which we are privileged to participate with God.

Lord Jesus, thank you for our children. We give them back to you for your glory, and pray your promises will strengthen them and their faith in you.
