Risk-taking Obedience
Genesis 24:7, 26-27, 45
“The Lord, the God of heaven…he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there…Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord…‘the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives’…‘Before I finished praying in my heart, Rebekah came out with her jar…’”
God loves faith in his people. He loves risk-taking obedience that expresses faith in his promises and commands. We don’t know the name of Abraham’s chief servant entrusted with the mission of finding a wife for Abraham’s son Isaac. We do know God blessed his journey of faith that began with his faith in the God of Abraham. However, as he came to the critical destination of his journey, the servant prayed in his heart for confirmation of God’s choice. The servant’s faith had become personal. God answered the prayer of this servant’s heart, even as he was praying.
What direction, counsel or confirmation are we seeking today?
What step of risk-taking obedience is God calling us to take?
We serve a God of relationship who hears the prayers of our hearts before they are finished, and who loves faith.
Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith this day as I choose to live with risk-taking obedience for your glory.
