God’s Love Brings Us Joy

Hey, you, reading this Bible Plan. God loves you. That’s the message of Christmas. It’s the message of the whole Bible! His love for you is patient, kind, gentle, and it doesn’t keep track of all your mistakes. Isn’t that some wonderful news? 

We’ve covered a lot of ground in the past four days of this Bible Plan. We’ve discovered that our words really can’t describe God. We’ve learned that God’s love is deeper than any rejection we could ever feel. And today—let’s get excited about God’s love!

God brought Himself close to us. Jesus was literally with us as a human. (Is your brain starting to crack again? Don’t let it!) Just feel the joy. God is with you right now. The Bible teaches us that His Holy Spirit can live inside of us when we choose to trust and follow Jesus. His spirit is inside us! The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead! It’s amazing! It might make you feel like smiling, laughing, running around the block, and shouting for joy! (All the exclamation points!) 

And why not? Joy to the world! Our Lord has come! 

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son …” John 3:16 NLT

Ask yourself: How does it make me feel when I forget God is with me? How do I feel when I remember God is close?

Challenge yourself: Remind five people today that God is with them. Watch their face. See how they respond. You can say something (or write something) like, “Hey! I just wanted to tell you that God is with you. Don’t forget it. Oh, and merry Christmas!” You just might be the one who spreads God’s joy to others today! 

Pray: God, thank You for being with us! Christmas is the time when we remember You came to be with us. And it’s such a happy thought. Thank You for staying with us, too, through Your Holy Spirit. Help me to remember how close you are and to feel joy in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
