Who Is God?Sample

God is our heavenly Father.
Why do we call God our Father?
Short answer: Because Jesus did.
Longer answer: Throughout the Bible God is often described in the same way a perfect father would be. As human beings, we are often called God’s children. His sons and daughters.
In Matthew’s account of Jesus’ life and teachings, we read about a time where the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. Jesus’ answer became known as the Lord’s Prayer. The prayer starts with two important words: “Our Father …”
Right away, Jesus is telling us to think of God as our Father. He’s not some uncaring authority figure far away. No, Jesus is helping us understand that God is near to us. He loves us. He wants what is best for us. He is our heavenly Father. He is our perfect Father.
This is such a big deal because our earthly experiences can easily distort our view of God as our heavenly Father. God is not a reflection of your human father. God is the perfection of your father.
Please, don’t hold what may or may not have happened in your life against God. He loves you. He cares for you. And He wants you to know that.
At the same time, we have to recognize that God, like any good father, wants His children to grow up to be wise, mature, and caring humans. He wants us to develop character and grow up to be strong, capable, centered, and compassionate. And because of that, we will deal with challenges and trials that will make us stronger on the other side of them.
Who is God? God is your perfect heavenly Father.
