Asking for Wisdom
Scripture Reference: James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
As our verse tells us, if we lack wisdom, we are to ask God for it, and He'll generously give it to us. I don't know about you, but I need truckloads of wisdom. As I learn more, I realize that I don't retain much.
I work in an industry that is continuously changing, and you always need to learn something new. It can be exhausting, but I consider myself a student of life and a gleaner by nature.
Student of Life
I love to learn new things, but I find that I only have so much bandwidth and need to watch my intake. I could fill my head with all kinds of creative trends, website advancements, and social media tactics, or I can fill my heart with the word of God. You'd think that focusing on learning about business is the only way to grow my agency. But I have found that when I become more like Jesus, it helps every part of my life. I care for people more, I serve people better, and I communicate with kindness. By reflecting Christ in my life, I enjoy what I do, and my clients enjoy the benefits of both.
I am a Gleaner by Nature
Asking God for wisdom has made me content when it comes to comparing what I know to what others know. I'm not going to know everything, but if you and I are talking, I'm going to be asking questions. It's how I pick up information from a multitude of careers, cultures, points of view, and more. I don't always apply what I learn because not everything that glitters is gold.
There is so much wisdom in the Bible that it will take a lifetime to realize. We should be mindful of how we spend our time and what we spend our time pursuing.
1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.
