Walking Through Miscarriage With God

DAY 2 OF 7

"Giving God Our Sorrow"

The first time I heard ‘Come As You Are’ by Crowder was after a miscarriage. I was an emotional mess when I heard "all who are broken lift up your face" because all I wanted to do was bury my face in my pillow and not let anyone see me. I was feeling very alone and angry. God wants us to come to Him just as we are. Regardless of what heartache and pain we have experienced, God can handle it.

In Psalm 142, David was in such a low place emotionally, mentally and physically. He was in a cave hiding out from King Saul who was hunting him down with an entire army with one purpose, to kill him. In this passage, David is audibly and passionately pouring his heart out to God. His voice has filled this dark, lonely cavern.

God desires that we use the voice he has blessed us with to speak to Him. Silent prayers are great but how much greater to audibly speak to our Creator, especially in our darkest hour. When your heart is broken, you are angry, in pain, and are at the lowest point of your life, God wants us to audibly talk to Him. If you are angry and do not want to talk to God, please do it anyway. God can handle your anger and frustration.

When we are overwhelmed with heartache and grief after a miscarriage, God alone is the One who knows what we need. I encourage you to spend some time alone today and audibly pray to our great Comforter. If you do not know what to pray, pray Psalm 142:6.

Write out all the verses in Psalm 142 in a journal and allow God's peace to fill your broken heart. Regardless of how much time has passed from your miscarriage, it is important that we allow God to heal this aspect of our hearts. A woman will carry around the heartache of losing her child the rest of her life and it is of utmost importance that we handle these emotions carefully and intentionally. There is not a single day that I do not think about my 5 lost babies but every single time I think about them, I can honestly say I remember the faithfulness of God and not my sadness. He alone healed my heart and has brought me joy where there was pain and grief. My God can and will do the same for you, if only you allow Him to.
