Be RevivedSample

DAY TWO: Be Healed From Your Legalism
I remember a season when I was in all-out war. I was sick, downtrodden, and horribly oppressed by the enemy. So every day I spent time in worship followed by Bible reading. I fasted from food and TV.
There is nothing wrong with any of these activities. But I believed that reading, fasting, and decreeing would make God love me more. Then He would “have to” fulfill His promises to me.
Needless to say, it didn’t work. In total desperation, I cried out to the Lord. He gave me Galatians 3:10.
You are justified, acquitted, and made right with God through Jesus, not by keeping the law. Attempting to obey the law in your own strength is very different from doing good works. Worship, reading the Word, and fasting are vital to building intimacy with the Lord. In those private times with Jesus, you hear His heart, learn from Him, and are led by His voice toward your breakthrough.
But when you turn your special time with Him into works of the flesh, you get out of balance. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the motives behind your spiritual disciplines. Are you doing them to get closer to Jesus and hear His voice or to win brownie points with God?
