Day 5: Big Vision, Bigger God

For 2020, vision is vital, it requires a perspective shift, and it can only come through alignment with God. But the most important thing about your 2020 vision is this:

God’s vision for you is bigger than you could ever imagine. 

How do I know this?

Because my life is a big vision come true. 

About eight years ago, I had just been fired from my dream job. I was devastated, broken, humiliated, living with my parents because I had nowhere to go and trying to see what my future was supposed to look like. I had about a year of sobriety but no real idea about what God wanted me to do. I had no vision.

As I began to slowly rebound, my perspective shifted. Instead of thinking I’d just suffered the worst possible circumstance, I began to think: what if this is actually the greatest blessing I could’ve received.

So I began to align. I quit trying to negotiate my future vision with God and just asked Him to reveal HIS future vision to me.

And the vision began to come.

And then one prayerful night, I asked God to do something in my life SO BIG, SO IMPACTFUL, and SO AMAZING that people would look on with awe and wonder and say, “Truly that is an act of God.”

And over time, that vision has become something real. Something called Hope Is Alive, a life-transforming ministry restoring hope and radically changing the lives of drug addicts, alcoholics, and those who love them. 

And then that vision began to attract a team of incredible people. We worked hard, took risks, grew even more, and stayed aligned to see that radical vision turn into a mighty movement. 

It’s so much bigger than I envisioned. And it grows all the bigger every day. 

I use my life as an example, not to draw any attention, but to encourage you that, just like He did for me, God has a bigger vision for YOU. 

He wants to use YOU! And not later, down the road, but right now!

God can do anything!

Maybe He wants you to lead a new movement. To start a business. To change the way you relate to your family. To step out in faith. To be a pioneer. 

God has taken you this far; trust that He will take you where you need to go. 

Ask God for that vision. That radical, life-changing vision. Where you need help to change your perspective and to find alignment, ask Him for it. He’ll give it to you!  

Pray this prayer and see what God does in you:

God, I see You as what You are. The God of all things, bigger than I can ever imagine and more faithful than the ground I walk on. Align me with Your Spirit, open my eyes to Your glory and pour out Your goodness on my life. I claim that You and You alone are the provider of everything I will need this year. Give me peace in my trials, faith when I am doubting, and wisdom when decisions come my way. God, You know my heart's cry. Breathe life into this vision. Bringing to fruition all the things You desire for me to be, for me to do, and for me to accomplish in 2020!
