Single Parents

Single parents face their own unique set of troubles and challenges. A job that was originally designed for two people is now being done by one. Not only are there practical and physical applications of that fact, but the burden of emotional and spiritual needs for a family falls to just one parent as well.

That type of challenge can hardly be understood by anyone who hasn’t experienced it. For that reason, single parents often feel like they’re pushed to the outskirts. Yet, these are the exact people that Christ calls us to love.

Today, start by praying this prayer…

Lord, I pray for single parents living in our apartment communities. There are so many of them. They carry a load meant for two all by themselves. Grant them strength by your Spirit to juggle the demands of work and parenting. Surround them with the support of godly believers who will help shoulder their load. Provide for them financially. Protect them. Encourage them. Give them hope. There are days when they feel lonely, discouraged, irritated, and stressed. But they are not alone. You are with them. You watch over them and care for them. You delight in their children and have a plan for their lives. Help me love and serve these single parents and their kids. Amen.
