Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. Since creation, we read stories of men and women who were afraid. But, then God infused their faith with courage when they called out to Him.

When you see people buying masses of hand sanitizers, soap and toilet paper, ask yourself, what is the driving force? Excessive hoarding is related to fear. This spirit breeds panic, isolation, anxiety and hysteria. Therefore, what could our response as a follower of Jesus be in these days of uncertainty?

Let us be moved to deep compassion with courage. A challenge is not to give in to the temptation to shrink back or isolate. Rather, lean into love and let love guide you through these days. Love can conquer fear!

How can you respond?

• Take time to pray from local to global.
• Consider buying extra health supplies and giving them away to those who cannot afford to do so.
• Speak life over your family and community.
• Remain thankful.

If we stand together and remain loving, kind and generous, then fear will lose its foothold. My prayer for you is that you will embrace the courage to be warm and gracious, that you would trust the One who gives us hope. In Jeremiah 30:22, the Lord declares that He will be our God, and we will be His people.
