 Courage to Follow Jesus

Humility is power under control. The courage to be humble is joined by the fruit of the Spirit of self-control. It is a supernatural ability to hold back when you are being provoked, when you are challenged by circumstances or when you are with people who push your buttons. 

Godly followers of the Lord who have the honesty to admit their own weaknesses run in humility to Him. Lifestyle humility is the foundation for enduring strength and for performing supernatural acts that bring glory to God without the strings of self-recognition or selfish ambition. 

Welcome true humility. Start choosing genuine dependence on the Holy Spirit. Keep looking to the Lord until you can see redemptive solutions and answers that reflect wisdom born from above. When we walk in humility by the grace of God, we see things very differently. There is more empathy and compassion and less judgment and rejection. 

Humility causes us to be able to partner in a greater way with the Holy Spirit, which allows us to get to be real co-laborers with our Lord. With this brave humility comes the boldness to do something that will have a large impact in eternity. Often just inviting the Lord’s guidance in prayer and meditation clothes you with humility. 

Prayer

Lord, grant me the grace to live my life clothed in Your power and authority so that You are the One who is lifted high. Father, as Your child let me be aware that I am accepted in the beloved. Whenever my life has the power of influence toward others, let them recognize that I have been in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Step

Consider an area of your life in which you want to be humble. Ask God to clothe you with humility, but also ask Him how He wants you to step out boldly so that God’s glory will be released through you.
