"Who is Jesus? He is The One who Lived a Sinless Life"
John the Baptist was reluctant to baptise Jesus. He knew that it made more sense for Jesus to baptise him than for him to baptise Jesus. But Jesus told John that his baptism was to fulfil all righteousness. And this was the characteristic of all of Jesus’ life – obedience to God the Father to fulfil all righteousness. As the Bible tells us, Jesus was without sin – the spotless Lamb of God. That is why he was the acceptable sacrifice for sin and was able to take up on himself the sin of the world through his sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary.
But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” … Matthew3:15 (ESV)
We thank you Jesus that you are the sinless, pure Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Thank you that you lived a life of obedience to the Father and therefore, you fulfilled the requirement of a spotless lamb, without blemish for being the sacrificial lamb. Thank you that you died for us. In Jesus’ name.
