GO2020 | ENGAGE: May Week 4- GOSample

May 27—Prayer-fueled
Read
Acts 12:6-12, 16
Reflect
Earlier in Acts 12 we are told about the martyrdom of James the apostle (the brother of John). Now we find Peter in prison. Herod’s plan is to execute him as well. Peter is well-guarded, and he seems to be in an impossible situation; but God! The church is in prayer asking for Peter’s release. What happens next is like something from a movie thriller. God releases Peter in answer to his people’s prayers!
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, Acts 2:42. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.

About this Plan

God wants his people to be united, joy-filled, and loving one another, in order to demonstrate that the gospel of the kingdom is greater than all our differences. Something powerful happens when we “go” together. Jesus prayed for this very thing before he died, “that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”
