Great Restorer

Lord of all creation

And author of all life,

You speak

And dust grows flesh.

At your command

The spirit breathes

Anew.

Dead things 

Are not dead to you

What is left

For the clay

Except to obey

It’s crafter?

Dust has no life

Of its own.

It blows

Only where it is led.

Earthly and grounded,

It waits eagerly

For prompting.

What can

Your people do

But hope

In your promise?

Revive these bones.

Restore what is gone.

Who am I

To speak on your behalf?

I too am brittle bone

Awaiting death.

I too am but dust

With briefest breath.

You do the undoable

And in so moving

Proclaim your glory.

Nothing is impossible 

With your command

And I will trust your power 

Unwaveringly

Oh God my God-

You are the great 

Restorer.
