[2020 Vision Series] Victory in Our BattlesSample
Our Position in Christ
Either our problems are going to push us into the heartbeat of God, or our problems are going to separate us from the heartbeat of God. We want to be people whose problems push us towards God—sons and daughters who invite God into our fear and into our battles.
After gaining some perspective, we need to stand firm in our position. God has given us an amazing position in Christ. He wants us to play within the spiritual giftedness of how He has wired us, and to play from heaven, where He has seated us. If somebody doesn’t know how to play that position, for example, a quarterback who doesn’t know how to take a snap or an outfielder who can’t catch a fly ball, it is not going to go right, and there is a problem. Heaven needs us to be competent players, sure of our position in Christ.
Who am I in Christ?
In Christ we are a new creation, a royal priesthood, a chosen race, a holy nation, people of God’s own possession, without condemnation, rightful sons and daughters of God. We are seated in heavenly places. Christ lives in us (greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world). We are no longer servants, but friends of God. We no longer have a spirit of fearfulness, but a spirit of power, love, and sound judgement. We are heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, citizens of heaven, members of the body of Christ, one spirit with Him.
On and on and on we could go. Page after page, after page, of just saying who we are in Christ. The first thing we need to know when the battle draws near is the perspective of God and the position we have in Jesus.
Does that mean we are going to get everything we want, the way we want it? It doesn’t work like that. Because if we got everything we wanted, we would be a bunch of spoiled brats, and we wouldn’t look anything like Jesus. God gives us some things we don’t like so that He can use them to form us.
God has never let down a single person in history, and you won’t be the first. His faithfulness is on the line with you, and his faithfulness will not fail.
About this Plan
There are going to be battles in your life this year—battles in your health, in your heart, and in your relationships. People you know will have to fight. At work or at school, there are going to be some conflagrations. There will be things that come against us in the coming months, and we will need God’s power and strength to be able to walk through them.
