Working with Eternity in Mind

DAY 5 OF 5

Three years had passed and Daniel and his friends were presented to King Nebuchadnezzar, ready to enter into his service. As the king spoke with them he realized that these were no average recruits. He found the four of them to be unequalled in knowledge, learning, and literature.

Further, the wisdom and understanding that they displayed was found to be unparalleled—ten times better than the wise people in his court. God was faithful to the four young men. Reading through the rest of the book of Daniel, you will find that God’s faithfulness did not stop at the end of their time of training; it continued over decades through a vast array of challenges and trials they would encounter, including being thrown into the lion’s den and a blazing furnace.

Through Daniel’s faithful work in the Lord’s service while a servant of King Nebuchadnezzar, even this powerful king would come to proclaim: ‘How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.’ (Daniel 4:3).

Do we recognise that we are called to surrender all of our whole lives to God? Are we seeking after him and committed to honouring him in our whole lives, including our work? What aspect of your life do you need to offer up to be transformed by Christ today?
