When Your Whole World Changes - COVID-19 Special EditionSample
Love One Another
I’m an adult. I live alone without any family nearby, and it was a strange experience when our community had to go into lockdown for nearly a month! I missed my coworkers, meeting with friends, and all of my usual activities. At times, the social distancing made me feel like I didn’t fit in and didn’t matter to anyone.
Wherever we live, the COVID-19 pandemic will affect us. Protective isolation such as quarantine, lockdown, and working or learning remotely has a negative psychological effect on us.
We were created to function in relationship with God and other people, so isolation has undesirable consequences.
When you feel lonely and insecure while you’re in lockdown, don’t forget that people all over the world are suffering in similar ways. We can reach out to family and friends with a text, call, or email to express our love and concern for one another. As people of faith, we also have the privilege and hope of uniting our hearts together and praying for and with one another.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:14–17
God doesn’t intend life to be a solitary endeavor. When we’re joined in the bond of faith, we can support and encourage one another together through prayer.
Do you have someone with whom you can pray for your mutual needs, for your community, for everyone who is suffering in the world, and also for encouragement in your walk of faith?
