Surrender: Giving God 100%Sample
Giving God Your Talent
Ready:
“May He equip you with all you need for doing His will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him. All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.”
– Hebrews 13:21
Set:
When we’re born, we’re given certain talents and interests. Over the course of time, we develop those talents and learn which ones we want to focus more of our attention to. Then we spend hours honing our skills and developing a game plan to get us where we want to be with our personal athletic goals as well as team goals. We give 100 percent to our team with our ability and enthusiasm. We love using our skills to perform as best we can on the field or court, but let’s not forget where those skills came from in the first place.
The Creator God crafted our abilities to be used for His glory and for the benefit of our team. Being a teammate brings an excitement of banding together with a group of other athletes. When we’re in agreement on a common goal, it makes success so much sweeter when we accomplish what we set out to do.
Jesus told a parable about three teammates who were entrusted with some talents from their coach. Before he went out of town, the coach told them to be wise with what they were given. One teammate was given five talents, one was given two, and one was given one. The first two teammates went to work and made the most out of what they were given. The third teammate was afraid and hid what he was given. Out of the three, the coach was most displeased with the third teammate because he didn’t use his talent to the best of his abilities; he didn’t give it his all.
We don’t want to be frozen in fear that keeps us from giving our all. Let’s look to Jesus. His example of giving it all on the cross is the catalyst we need to give everything we have for the sake of His Kingdom. From there, we pour our all on the field, with our teammates, and all our coaches. Why not set out to give God 100 percent of your abilities and effort today?
Go:
1. Do you ever assess your talent? What can you do to take it to the next level?
2. How can you serve God with your abilities?
3. Recognize the talent and ability in someone else and point it out to them today.
Workout:
Matthew 25:22-23; Ephesians 2:10; 1 Peter 4:10
Overtime:
Father, thank You for the incredible abilities and talents You have given me. You have already given me so much. Now help me use what I’ve been given to be a blessing to those around me. I want to give you 100 percent of my talent, living and performing and serving for You. Amen.
