Leading Your Company Through CrisisSample
A Song for Hurting Hearts
I'm the type of person that bears a lot of burdens. So when I see things happening in the world that break my heart, I often allow them to really break my heart.
Open up the news every day and there are different tragedies everywhere you look. The world is full of injustices that can really break our hearts. Without the gospel, it can be pretty hopeless.
So Psalm 65 has been a big encouragement to me. In particular, it talks about the God of our salvation, who is the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, the one who, by his strength, established the mountains.
And that's such a good reminder that even in the midst of often what we see as chaotic news cycles, and a lot of injustice in the world, that our hope is not in what's happening in the world, but our hope is in the God of our salvation. He has the power to sustain us and compel us to action in the every day, even though our hearts might be broken.
We can mourn and we can act, knowing that God knows more than us. That's so encouraging.
