There's Hope For TodaySample

He sat in my office; his head in his hands; his life in tatters.
“I had it all,” he muttered, “I had it all and I threw it away.” The tears that fell that afternoon were bitter. The sorrow that escaped in sobs was genuine. She was gone; the house was gone; the kids were gone; his job was gone; all for a selfish and foolish indulgence.
Good times don’t always add up to a good life. The pleasures of sin are for a season, but seasons change. The prodigal ran from one party to the next consuming his own future. He denied himself nothing, like the preacher in Ecclesiastes (Ecc. 2:10), and found himself diminished for it. His raging pursuit of good times dropped him from the pinnacle of financial power to the lowest pit of poverty. His life of adventure was soon replaced with one of drudgery and demoralization. He went from being a man sought out to being a man avoided.
It’s not a long way from the party life to the pigpen. A cavalier dalliance with drugs, alcohol, or illicit pleasure can so suddenly consume.
Choose wisely and be sober. Good living always outlives good times.
