The Occupation ContinuesSample
Being spiritually sound is so much more important than being socially conscious. In our world right now, we are in a time of trial and difficulty when it comes to social issues. We can see oppression and reform happening all around us.
One thing that we can do is to make sure we are looking at everything through the lens of the Gospel and not through the lens of culture alone. There are many great resources out there that can help us understand the current topics and cultural climate, but the greatest resource to frame our reality is The Bible.
When we focus on God and on His Word, it guides and directs us how to address sin and injustices in our world. When we filter everything through the lens of the Holy Spirit, we will intrinsically become socially conscious and motivated by the Gospel, because He is the Advocate. He outworks justice, truth, and equity for all, because that is who He is.
God’s Word tells us that we are to value human life. If you haven’t been looking at the world around you through the lens of scripture and the high price paid for all by Jesus, it doesn’t disqualify you from the conversation or from engaging in change; however there are new mercies available in order for your journey to include social matters.
The world needs what we have guiding us as believers in Jesus. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide you in acts of social justice and the work of freedom.
Questions:
- Is society informing your consciousness or is the Holy Spirit leading you in Truth?
- How can you renew your mindset and approach to the world based on the Gospel?
