[Difference Makers ls] A Graceful Touch

DAY 5 OF 5

Wherever God Leads

A few weeks ago, I spoke at the Houston Texans chapel. It was awesome. Attending chapel is a voluntary thing; the football players don’t have to come. Not everybody came, but there were still about 30 guys there. They laughed at my jokes; they smiled, they did not stuff me in a locker. They had their Bibles open and they took notes. I walked around and introduced myself, saying, “I’m Greg. I am the speaker today.” And they took one look at me and said, “Yeah, you’re either the speaker or the kicker, one of the two.” I just don’t look like a professional football player.

So, I met them all, and we studied the Bible, and it was great. A couple of weeks before that, I had spoken at the Texas A&M chapel, when they played here in Houston. Football teams should invite me to all their bowl games—wouldn’t that be great?

Before the chapel, I was nervous. I was praying, “Lord, help me connect.” Driving downtown with my son, we were sitting at the light, when a metro bus goes by. You know how the origination and the destination are written on the side of the metro bus? This one said “Downtown and West Oaks Mall.” That was the mall that I grew up going to. It sits at Highway 6 and Westheimer. I felt the Lord speak to my heart: “I have taken you from when you were a knucklehead at West Oaks Mall to downtown to speak at a chapel.” It isn’t some big, grand destination. But the Lord spoke to my heart, “There is a bus of grace. If you say, like Isaiah, ‘Here I am, send me,’ and you get on the bus and let Me drive, I will take you places you never imagined.”

I was so encouraged that the Lord had my life in His hand. He was taking me to the place that He wanted me to be. Difference makers express a willing heart and a willing life. Get on the bus and let God take you wherever He wants to take you. Say to Him, “Here I am, send me. I want to go where You want me to go.”

Am I listening intently to the Lord? Can I hear His voice in the midst of the noise? Can I get on the bus and let Him drive?

Day 4

About this Plan

[Difference Makers ls] A Graceful Touch

This is part two of a two-part series on Isaiah’s vision and calling to serve the Lord. Isaiah did not sit down to write because he had tremendous literary ability, or because he was so Godly and knowledgeable. He became a difference maker because he was amazed by the Lord and transformed by His graceful touch. Then he responded as a difference maker by expressing his willingness to serve God.
