My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="JOB.42.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> told them; and the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> accepted Job&#8217;s prayer.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="JOB.42.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="JOB.42.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">After Job had prayed for his friends, the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="JOB.42.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">42:11 </span><span class="ft">Hebrew </span><span class="fqa">him a kesitah</span><span class="ft">; a kesitah was a unit of money of unknown weight and value.</span></span></span><span class="content"> and a gold ring.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="JOB.42.11"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="JOB.42.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">The </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> blessed the latter part of Job&#8217;s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="JOB.42.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">And he also had seven sons and three daughters. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="JOB.42.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="JOB.42.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job&#8217;s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="JOB.42.15"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="JOB.42.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="JOB.42.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">And so Job died, an old man and full of years.</span></span></div>

         <div class="label">11</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Tower of Babel</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="GEN.11.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="GEN.11.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">As people moved eastward,</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">11:2 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">from the east</span><span class="ft">; or </span><span class="fqa">in the east</span></span></span><span class="content"> they found a plain in Shinar</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">11:2 </span><span class="ft">That is, Babylonia</span></span></span><span class="content"> and settled there.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="GEN.11.2"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="GEN.11.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">They said to each other, &#8220;Come, let&#8217;s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.&#8221; They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="GEN.11.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">Then they said, &#8220;Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="GEN.11.4"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="GEN.11.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">But the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="GEN.11.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">The </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> said, &#8220;If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="GEN.11.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="GEN.11.7"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="GEN.11.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">So the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="GEN.11.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">That is why it was called Babel</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">11:9 </span><span class="ft">That is, Babylon; </span><span class="fq">Babel </span><span class="ft">sounds like the Hebrew for </span><span class="fq">confused</span><span class="fqa">.</span></span></span><span class="content">&#8212;because there the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> confused the language of the whole world. And Haran became the father of Lot. </span></span><span class="verse v28" data-usfm="GEN.11.28"><span class="label">28</span><span class="content">While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth. </span></span><span class="verse v29" data-usfm="GEN.11.29"><span class="label">29</span><span class="content">Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram&#8217;s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor&#8217;s wife was Milkah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah. </span></span><span class="verse v30" data-usfm="GEN.11.30"><span class="label">30</span><span class="content">Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v30" data-usfm="GEN.11.30"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v31" data-usfm="GEN.11.31"><span class="label">31</span><span class="content">Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ACT.3.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">When all the people saw him walking and praising God, </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ACT.3.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Peter Speaks to the Onlookers</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ACT.3.10"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ACT.3.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon&#8217;s Colonnade. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ACT.3.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">When Peter saw this, he said to them: &#8220;Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ACT.3.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="ACT.3.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ACT.3.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="REV.20.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God&#8217;s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.20.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.20.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life.
