Real Hope: Community of ChristSample

Are You Prepared?
It’s Sunday morning. Saturday was filled with sport activities, ferrying kids around, social gatherings, and quite frankly, it’s left you exhausted. You look at your watch and realize it’s time for church. Water bottles aren’t packed, shoes aren’t on. You know the story. You find no parks left in the church car park, so you have to park half a block away. By the time you arrive, you’ve missed the first song (or more) and you feel flustered as you try to find a seat.
Not good, is it? We’ve all been there—and attempting to be ready for online church can also bring its own stresses. More often than not it means you’re not in the right frame of mind to spend time with brothers and sisters in community, let alone worship.
Life is busy, so how can we prepare our hearts before we join our church community on Sunday morning? Perhaps it’s time spent reflecting on God’s goodness through the week during the drive there. Or, if possible, spending a moment on Saturday night reading the following morning’s Bible passage. At the very least, spend some time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to be at work in your heart, that through the time of gathering you would grow to be more like Christ and encourage others to grow in the same way.
We are busy people. But God deserves our hearts, so let’s do our best to prepare them well.
