Love God Greatly: Jesus Our EverythingSample

If even Jesus prayed and turned to God with His requests, we absolutely need to do the same. Jesus asked God to save Him from death, but He also knew God’s will and plan were greater than His.
Jesus wasn’t shy in His requests. He knew the only way to save humanity from God’s wrath was for Him to bear the sins of the world and receive God’s judgment. Jesus didn’t fear physical death (though He likely wasn’t looking forward to it), but instead, He feared facing God’s wrath on sin. Jesus is the only human who can fully understand God’s holiness, and in that, the only one who can understand the full weight of sin on our relationship with God.
Though these passages are theologically dense and challenging to understand, we can rest knowing that Jesus fulfilled God’s plan and became a sacrifice on our behalf. Even in His suffering, His love for us and His devotion to God allowed us to receive salvation.
Lord Jesus, I will never understand what You endured on my behalf. I praise You for Your obedience to God and Your humility. Help me understand the depth of Your sacrifice a little more today. Amen.
