Her Story: Encouragement for Women in Business

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: The Only Way Out Is In

I started as a full-time entrepreneur when I was 25 years old. In hindsight, there were so many things that I did not know. What I lacked in traditional training, I thought my zeal would make up for. I was not completely wrong, but the much bigger lesson was that what I lacked in training, God had made preparations for through on-the-job experiences.

Whether you are a new entrepreneur in your 20s, 50s, or 70s, or you are an experienced business owner, we are all frequently faced with the temptation to give up when things get hard. But, what if God wants to bless what you are holding right now? What if stopping (even to compare to someone else) is stalling the next step of your growth?

I encourage you to stand your ground and keep pushing exactly where you are planted. When you are discouraged and tempted to give up, ask God to help the unbelief. Push when it is difficult, when potential customers reject the product or service, and even when you feel overlooked and underestimated.

How do I know God will honor your fidelity? The stories of Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah confirm a divine pattern of God answering persistent prayers. Joseph, David, and even Jesus' life on earth remind us that though it tarries, the prophecy must come to pass. Be encouraged that whatever you imagined for yourself and your business is only a fraction of what God desires for you.

Reflection Questions:

1. Do my heart and work reflect a posture of total faith in God or self-reliance for the success of my business?

2. What is one practical source of encouragement for me when I am feeling overwhelmed?

Day 4

About this Plan

Her Story: Encouragement for Women in Business

If God has called you into entrepreneurship, then you should know that it's not just business as usual. What if the calling is also about purpose, legacy, and community? This study by MCWEN Founder, Andrena Sawyer, provides practical insights and encouragement for women to be counter-cultural and to take God at His word for the success of their business and ministry.
