Hide This in Your Heart: Memorizing Scripture for Kingdom Impact Sample
Eat Together, Sharing Meals with Believers and Nonbelievers Alike
When we eat with others, we often share friendship, laughter, tears, stories, love, and open hearts. There is something powerful about table fellowship. We’d like you to eat with three people each week—at least one of whom is a member of your church and at least one of whom is not. As we welcome people outside the church to our tables, we often find they reciprocate, welcoming us to theirs.
Who will you eat with this week? Reflect on the words of Matthew 25:35–36, 40. Who are the people in your community and neighborhood that you need to care for, feed, clothe, welcome, visit, and honor? Who are the “least of these” that Jesus calls his brothers and sisters and whom he expects you to love and serve?
Memorize: Hebrews 13:1–2
Pray:
Release us from the desire to be esteemed and noticed,
free us from the drive to be praised and honored,
and lead us into your humility.
Open our hearts to those who are not honored by the world;
and make our tables places of welcome and hospitality.
Cause us to see your presence and hear your voice
among the poor, broken, rejected, and forgotten,
so that we would welcome and honor them the way you do.
Help us open our homes, our families, our lands, and our lives
to the foreigner and stranger,
just as you welcomed and loved us.
Amen
