Qualities Of An Entrepreneur – Self-Control
The Young Entrepreneurs Study, funded by the John Templeton Foundation, studied 5,000 young people to determine what qualities were typically present in budding entrepreneurs. They discovered four key traits, including Innovative Thinking, Self-Control, Initiative and Entrepreneurial Mentors.
We discussed Innovative Thinking yesterday. Today, let’s focus on Self-Control. Those in the study who described themselves as “self-starters” were 1 ½ times more likely to be aspiring entrepreneurs than the others studied.
This study reveals self-control and persistence are critical factors for launching a business successfully.
Proverbs 16:32 teaches, “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”
God desires each of us to have self-control, but temptations and trials are around every corner in business. If you are weak on self-control, think twice before starting a business.
