There's Power in the Blood
Have you ever sang the phrase of the popular hymn, “O the Blood of Jesus, it washes white as snow?" Sometimes, I find myself in this category, we might sing and listen to a song, but might not know the actual symbols and cultural norms of its significance. Blood is used multiple times in the Bible including sacrifice, protection, preservation, and the ultimate covering for Christ-followers, Jesus’ death and resurrection.
With Christ’s resurrection, this gave us freedom over sin, and we can serve Him without depending on works via yearly sacrifices, which was common in the Old Testament. One verse, found in the Old Testament says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.” It’s important to note that many might consider blood to signify death, but in actuality, blood is necessary for life. Did you know there are ways to improve the quality of your own blood that in turn would improve your overall health?
As the body of Christ, all blood is made of the same elements, but not all blood is alike. The types of blood are O, A, B, AB, with + and - correlations. Regardless of “type”, foods with iron, like dark greens and seeds, and folate, including turkey, asparagus, spinach, broccoli can help improve the quality of our blood. Today as you read this, I also pray that Christ’s blood covers you in all areas of your life, especially heart health.
