Isaiah 6:1 ESV
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
King Uzziah was a powerful king of Judah. He was very successful, innovative and very famous. His kingdom prospered greatly under his leadership. But then he died, and everyone’s hopes were shattered. Their eyes were on man, so their hope died with the man.
But when he died, Isaiah saw the Lord. The prophet had a powerful encounter with God which was crucial to his prophetic ministry.
King Uzziah stands for progress, for innovation, technology, science and a great future. Mankind has made tremendous progress and we feel very proud of it. Our technology made us feel in control of everything. But now we are brought to our knees by an invisible enemy.
It’s a good chance that if at this time, we turn to God, we may see Him. He rules over everything - He is Sovereign. And He sometimes allows the Uzziahs to die in our lives, so that we may encounter the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords.
Isaiah saw the Lord enthroned, glorious and powerful. In absolute control. Nothing disturbs Him, nothing can shake Him. This is our God!
May you have powerful encounters with our glorious God and may your whole life turn around.
