Joseph's Life Story

DAY 9 OF 26

People see that the Lord is with Joseph

In his difficult circumstances, Joseph was not alone. The Lord was with him and blessed him. This was not only a personal experience of Joseph, but something that caught the attention of others around him. In all that he did, he prospered — compare Psalm 1:1-3!

Joseph had lost everything except his relationship with God. This communion with the Lord shaped his whole life! People around him perceived that there was something special about him. They saw that everything that he did, succeeded. And somehow, they understood that this had to do with the fact that God was with Joseph, even though they didn’t fear the Lord themselves.

Throughout the Bible, we read several times that people who lived closely with the Lord, were especially blessed. Others around them could see it. These were not always material blessings — we also know about people like the apostle Paul, who was pretty poor financially but nevertheless rejoiced in “the immeasurable riches” of God’s grace.

If you live closely with the Lord, this will affect your character, your world view, your words and deeds… As Jesus said: “You are the light of the world […] Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

Do people around you see that the Holy Spirit dwells in your heart and that the Lord is with you? How could this be visible in your life?

About this Plan

Joseph's Life Story

“God loves you, and He has a plan for your life.” This is a popular statement among Christians, and it is true. But God’s ways are not always easy! They may include suffering to transform us; we may go through deep valleys before reaching the heights of God’s promises. Joseph’s life story, as recorded in the book of Genesis, is a good example of this.
