A Loving Father

DAY 4 OF 4

The Father

It was a day like any other. The father got up, sent his servants to make breakfast, and was taking care of his business. Suddenly, his youngest son arrives with such a request.

Do you think that the father was able to prevent his son from leaving? I think so. I imagine He tried to persuade him to change his mind. However, he respected the boy's decision and gave him his part of the inheritance.

Although his son was gone, he waited every day for his return. He went out every morning and every afternoon to the road, hoping to see the silhouette of his son coming back. But this question arises in my mind, if the son left of his own free will, what made the father think that he would return?

The father knew that, at home, his children had everything they needed; He made sure they did. So, if the prodigal son lacked nothing, what was he going to look for out there? What could he find better?

The father hoped that even empty-handed, his son would return where he already had everything.

For me, the Father is the focus of the story. God is the main character; however, he gives us a pencil so that we can create our own script. We can write what seems best to us or choose to ask for His instructions. God is the father in the parable that we have studied these days. He is merciful, patient, and willing to forgive us of all our faults.

If perhaps we have traded God for the world, like the prodigal son, or we have labeled him as unjust, like the older brother, I want you to remember that it doesn’t matter. It’s not which child we are, but the Father that we have.

Thank you for joining me in the analysis of this story, I hope that together we have learned something new. God bless you.

Day 3

About this Plan

A Loving Father

The parable of the prodigal son is very popular. They use it to refer to people who have strayed from God's path. However, it has three main characters: The father, who is God, and his two sons, the prodigal son and his older brother. Jesus mentioned both brothers in the story with a purpose, so that we could identify with one of them. Which son are you?
