Heart for the HouseSample
A House of Excellence
Marina Bitencourt
What comes to mind when we talk about a house built with excellence? We can think of the proper rooms, expensive furniture, or extreme cleanliness, inhabited by a "perfect" family from the commercials. Maybe it’s something we only see in movies or on Instagram.
But when I think of excellence, according to the Word of God, I think it's the first quality that we need to look for in our hearts. What does the heart of a house look like? Beyond the four walls that surround it, the heart comes from the people who transform it into a home.
To have a home is also to recognize that many times we need to leave the mess behind to take care of a child, or to see the needs of a wife when she cannot do everything. To consider a husband when he arrives home after a hard day's work and knows that he will find refuge and protection in the arms of those who love him. A family understands that love is the way to build a healthy home of peace and comfort for each of those who enter it.
In the same way, The Church is a house of excellence where we do the best we can with what we have. It is an attitude that takes into account that, even with mistakes and insecurities, we can be authentic without fear of showing ourselves as we are. Excellence is an attitude, an intentional way to generate credibility and trust as a family where we will always prioritize our greatest good: Jesus. He is the owner of our home, our family, and our hearts. With Him, imperfect people become extraordinary.
